Australia next year?

I've got a thing for winged sprint car racing. There's only one place in the world where they race this specific type of car outside the states. Australia. The last weekend in January each year is when they have their big annual event at Premier Speedway in Warrnambool, Australia. Lots of big names from the states show up for this event. I recognized at least ten American drivers at the event. If I can make it down there next year I would really like to go. Chinese New Year in 2024, the year of the dragon, occurs on February 10th. Not sure when we will be out of school. Hoping it works out.

Watching this year's event streaming online. It's a huge crowd and all the American drivers compare the vibe to the Knoxville Nationals. I went to that two years ago with my buddies Mike and Tony. That was a bucket list destination. Warrnambool would be similar. Would like to catch some "Super Rod" racing as well. It's something we don't get in the states. It's a different type of car with larger rear wheels. They're fun to watch. Crazy thing, they go backwards around the track compared to every other type of racing.

Great poker game last night. Fun group of guys. Looking forward to another poker night in two weeks. Half of the guys last night immediately signed up to play again. I've got a long list of interested players. Don't think it's going to be tough to keep a full game regularly. The ladies night will be in three weeks. I got five signed up for that on the first day. Didn't remember to take any pictures last night. Moving the button and dealing every hand is pretty time consuming, but it's worth it to make the game go quickly. For me there's not much worse than a slow poker game.

I ended up spending about two hours in my classroom this morning making sure I was ready for tomorrow. First day back with kids in a long time. Laregely a review day. Try to have some fun. Nothing intense or new.

Headed to try to get a haircut again. Mission accomplished. Also grabbed a mocha from Starbucks. I need one of those now and then. Good stuff. Heading back to my apartment now. Likely hit the couch and fall asleep watching sprint car racing down under. Early to bed tonight so I can back into my school routine.

It would be kinda weird to see cars going in the opposite direction after always seeing the go fast and turn left... wonder how different it is for the drivers? or do they just go "meh, racing is racing"

What do you mean by them going backwards?

In almost all forms of circular racing the concept is to go fast and stay to the left. Think about the high school track. Go fast, stay to the left. In super rod racing they go the opposite direction. Go fast and stay to the right. It's clockwise vs counterclockwise.
