Spring Festival Day 1
Today is the first day of the traditional lunar calendar. Spring festival is fifteen days long and there's something specific that the locals embrace on each of these days. Today? The first day is for the welcoming of the deities of the heavens and Earth on midnight. It is a traditional practice to light fireworks, burn bamboo sticks and firecrackers, and lion dance troupes, were done commonly as a tradition to ward off evil spirits. Tonight there's another fireworks display at 8:00pm that I plan to attend with the Moens.
After getting back to my apartment last night I was super tired and crashed around 10:00pm. I had no chance of sleeping when midnight hit. Tons of fireworks including this right out side my window.
I got up early and watched the KC-JAX game. That Mahomes kid is talented. He might last in the league for a while. Getting ready to watch NYG-PHI. Not sure if these games matter as much. Feels like a BUF-SF kind of year. We shall see.
Plans set for tomorrow. Heading to Shanghai around noon on a bullet train. Going to check out an art exhibit at a museum. Staying in a skyscraper hotel on a high floor that has spectacular views. Excited for another mini-adventure.
Update: Rain started falling and it didn't look like it was going to improve. We didn't head out to see more fireworks. Jeremy and I opted to play some cribbage.
