Work on Saturday?

This is a new one for me. I have to work on Saturday. It's an inservice day. At least it feels like it will be worth it. It's composed of three sessions that will be lead by teachers at school. We had at least ten choices during each session. If I had offered, I could have led a session too. Not sure what I would have done. Perhaps one on Myers-Briggs personality profiles. I considered it, but there was already a session being completed by my principal on Strengths Finder. It's a similar concept and I plan to attend that to do some comparisons.

I'll be attending a session on TOK (Theory of Knowledge). Looking forward to that one. It's a class I think my buddy Steve would find fascinating. An entire course on what we know and how we know. What is fact? What is opinion? Who determines?

All the third sessions of the day are health related. Bike ride? Yoga? Dance? Cooking? Etc. It's a nice way to end the day. The administration here understands and values that self care is worth investing time into it. Further, providing both breakfast and lunch is also a nice touch.

Work Saturday? If this is work sign me up.

In my philosophy classes TOK was referred to as epistemology. Fascinating stuff. Wonder why your school is able to have meaningful and interesting teacher training and we mostly don't. Is that on admin or is there more to it in terms of philosophy of education?

I have to agree with Durk here. It's political football there. A private school with no oversight doesn't have to dance to appease politicians.

Huh. Worthwhile and interesting teacher training. Who knew that was a thing?
